This case study looks at a company LS Tractor USA, one of the fastest growing tractor manufacturers in the world, which has hundreds of dealers located across the United States and Canada. Dealer orders were being processed by phone, fax and email.
LS Tractor USA business managers in the field had to continually interact with their dealer base to help them process orders correctly. This manual ordering system handled a 10,000 part inventory that included an overwhelming catalog of tractor models and configuration options.
As LS Tractor USA sales increased, cost and time spent on processing orders for both the mand their dealers became complex and cumbersome. Added to the complexity was the fact that LS Tractor USA’s SAP system runs at their headquarters in Germany and they needed to connect their US operations to their SAP system in Germany.
Manual processing of orders, which included configuration of different tractor models and applying discounts for different business situations, was causing delay sand inaccuracies in ordering, resulting in a poorly executed business process.
